WordPress 4.9.6 is now available and comes with a number of new tools to make WordPress compliant with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), taking effect on 25 May.
Comments
Users who aren’t logged in to you’re site will now be given an option on whether their name, email address and website are saved as a cookie on their own browser.
Privacy Policy
There is now an option to designate a Privacy Policy page in WordPress, and this will be shown automatically on login and registration pages throughout the site. There is also a handy template for creating a Privacy Policy if you don’t have one already.
Data Handling
There are now built in tools for site owners to export a file of a user’s personal data, as well as erasing it entirely.
We will be rolling out this update for all of our clients over the coming days.
